Events, support group meetings planned

Garden Spot Village (GSV), 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, has posted upcoming events.

On First Friday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Artisans Corner, located in the Village Square, will host resident artisan Alan Dinning, who will demonstrate wooden bowl turning and display his art.

The annual yard, tool and book sale will occur on Saturday, June 17, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the GSV community. The event will include home goods, tools and books. Participating homes will be marked with balloons. In the pavilion, the GSV Wood Shop will offer hundreds of power and hand tools for sale, and the GSV library will sell used books.

The GSV Train Room will host an open house on Saturday, June 24, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The HO-gauge train layout includes Thomasville and the "Talk With Thomas" event, and the O-gauge layout includes an elevated track. Both layouts feature heavily-detailed scenery. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.

GSV will also offer several support groups, which are free and open to the community.

Low Vision Friends in Community will meet on Thursday, June 8, at 3 p.m. in the Garden Towers. Linda Greth from VisionCorps will speak.

Caregiver Friends in Community, for family caregivers of persons with dementia, will meet in the Concord Room at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 12. James Martin, LPN and former caregiver, will speak.

Fellow Travelers in Community, a group for individuals noticing cognitive changes in themselves, will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, in the theater.

Restless Legs Syndrome Friends in Community will meet on Wednesday, June 21, at 2 p.m. in the theater. This new group is for people who have restless legs syndrome. Krista Gray, CRNP with WellSpan Internal Medicine, will speak.

Compassionate Neighbors in Community will meet on June 21 at 10 a.m. in the theater; the group is for friends or family members of those experiencing cognitive challenges.

Parkinson's Friends in Community, for individuals with Parkinson's and their friends and families, will meet on Monday, June 26, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Garden Towers. Sue Ludwig from CrushPD Fitness will share exercises that may help people with Parkinson's disease. Attendees should be prepared for a simple workout.
