Exhibits to highlight two local artists

Dreams & Fears," the latest collection of work to come from local artist Sterling Keesey, is now being featured at Mulberry Art Studios. A First Friday opening reception was held on March 7, and the show will be on display for the entirety of the month.

Keesey works in oil and acrylic, with a style that is both surreal and impressionistic. He stated that his surreal art is based on his dreams and fears, while his impressionism works are mainly from plein air painting.

For the past eight years, Keesey has been working and perfecting his craft as an artist. Formerly a construction worker, he made the decision to go for his dreams and passions as an artist, showing his work in several York and Harrisburg spaces.

Following Keesey's exhibit, Joanne Young Stephan will bring her collection of artwork to Mulberry Art Studios in April for her "Retrospective" exhibit. The show will open with a First Friday reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 4 and will remain on display for the entirety of April.

Stephan is a graphic artist specializing in the lettering arts, with more than 35 years experience in advertising, calligraphy, illustration and painting. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania School of Art & Design.

Stephan works in water media, pen and ink, gouache and watercolor. The collection is a retrospective of her life long passion for drawing, painting and especially lettering.

Stephan's alligraphy is inspired by words that happen to come into her life, often inspired by religious subjects. Her paintings are influenced by her love of nature. She has also enjoyed portrait painting of family and pets.

Guests who wish to see her exhibit but are unable to come to the opening can contact the gallery at 717-295-1949 or Stephanie.MulberryArt@gmail.com to schedule a time to view the artwork

Mulberry Art Studios is located in historic downtown Lancaster at 19-21 N. Mulberry St.
