Exploring faith through Bible2School

Children who attend Doe Run and Baron elementary schools have the opportunity to hear the Word of God and build a relationship with Jesus through Bible2School. The program will kick off on Monday, Sept. 23.

Programs are held for Doe Run second-graders on Mondays, Doe Run third-graders and Baron second-graders on Tuesdays, Doe Run fourth-graders and Baron third-graders on Wednesdays and Baron fourth-graders on Thursdays. Classes meet at Manheim BIC Church, 54 N. Penryn Road.

"Bible2School is a biblically based program. Bible2School provides free Bible classes to elementary children during their day," explained Marie Good, area coordinator. "The children are bused to the host site, where trained volunteers engage the children in lively worship, Bible stories, lessons, activities and prayer."

Children enjoy their lunch during the program, which includes learning about Jesus and participating in skits, science experiments, crafts, games and other enrichment activities.

"My hope is that the children will hear a message of how much they are loved by God, that they walk away with their heads high, because they know they are seen, heard, important and grasp how valuable they are," Good said. "And that they will come to have a relationship with a God who gives them peace, hope and joy."

Bible2School began in 1979 in Manheim and has expanded to more than 30 schools throughout the county and the state. All programming is offered free of charge to students.

The program relies on volunteers, who feel called to share their faith with the students.

"We are always looking for volunteers," Good said. "A good fit for volunteering would be a person who has a relationship with Jesus, attends church on a regular basis, loves working with children and has a flexible schedule."
