Extension Sets Webinar on Horses

Penn State Extension will offer a webinar, "Winter Wise: Managing Horses in Cold Weather," on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from noon to 1 p.m.

The session is designed for horse owners, trainers, and enthusiasts; barn managers; and those looking to prepare their horses for the challenges of winter. It will explore equine thermoregulation, highlighting how horses naturally produce and retain body heat, and address key management considerations for horses living on pasture during the colder months.

The webinar will offer strategies to help horse owners and caretakers keep their animals healthy, comfortable, and performing at their best throughout the winter season. Participants will learn about shelter needs, appropriate nutrition, safe exercise practices in low temperatures, and how to recognize when conditions may be too harsh.

The webinar is free, but registration is required by the start of the session. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. Participants can access the recording for six months from the event date.
