EYRA Plans Programs

The Eastern York Recreation Authority (EYRA) will offer several upcoming programs. All programs require registration at http://www.easternyorkrec.com.

The Owl Prowl will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Emig Park, 2 Buttonwood Lane, York. Attendees may learn about owls, including the unique features that help put them at the top of the food chain, as well as look inside an owl pellet; learn owl calls; and touch their feathers, feet, and skulls. The program is free and open to people of all ages.

A recreational basketball league for boys in seventh and eighth grades will be offered, with no residency requirements. The registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 12, and the program will run from on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. from Dec. 16 to Feb. 24 at Lower Windsor Township gym, 2425 Craley Road, Wrightsville. There is a fee.

Skill Builders Basketball for children in kindergarten through second grade will be held on Tuesdays, March 10, 17, 24, and 31, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wrightsville Elementary School, 320 Chestnut St., Wrightsville. Registration will be open until Tuesday, Feb. 17. There is a fee, and all participants will receive a T-shirt.

The Eastern York Soccer Club (EYSC) has opened registration for its spring 2026 season. Programs are available for boys and girls born in 2021 or earlier with no residency requirements. Players will need to supply their birth certificate and photo at the time of registration. The season will run from late March through June. The soccer complex is located at Barshinger Fields on Accomac Road in Hellam. There is a fee, which includes a uniform. The registration deadline for the travel team, for U9 and older, is Monday, Dec. 15. The intramural team deadline, for U6 to U8, is Monday, Feb. 2.

Storytime & Finger-Knitted Snakes will take place on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hellam Township Building, 35 Walnut Springs Road, York. Attendees will hear a story about a young yellow python and will learn a simple finger-knitting technique, with no needles required, to create long, slithery snakes out of colorful yarn. A parent or guardian is required to attend with participants age 12 or younger. There is a fee, and all materials will be supplied.
