EYRA Sets Programs

The Eastern York Recreation Authority (EYRA) will offer several upcoming programs. All programs require registration at http://www.easternyorkrec.com.

A recreational basketball league for boys in seventh and eighth grades will be offered, with no residency requirements. The registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 18, and the program will run on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. from Sept. 25 to Nov. 20 at Lower Windsor Township Gym, 2425 Craley Road, Wrightsville. There is a fee.

Basketball programs will be available for boys and girls in grades three through six who reside in Eastern York School District. The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 10. The program will start with evaluations in late October, and practices will begin in November. The season will run through February, and teams will play in York County leagues. There is a fee.

Eastern York Junior High Spring Baseball will be offered to Eastern York residents in grades seven and eight for the 2025-26 school year. The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 31, and the program will run from the middle of March to late April. Teams will play in the York County Baseball League. There is a fee to participate.

A welcome sign workshop will take place on Friday, Oct. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hellam Township Building, 35 Walnut Springs Road, York. Instructors will teach attendees how to create a layered 3D sunflower and butterfly welcome sign for their front door or wall. The event is open to beginners and people age 12 and older. All materials will be supplied, and there is a fee.

Creatures of the Night will take place on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rexroth Park, 1910 Prayer Mission Road, Windsor. Attendees may learn which creatures are more active at night, look for animal eyes shining in the dark, listen to the sounds of night animals, and touch their furs and skulls. The program is free and open to people of all ages.

Winter Backyard Birds will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Rexroth Park. Attendees may learn about winter birds and how to identify them by appearance and sound. Participants will also learn how to choose preferred foods to attract each species and will make a bird feeder to take home or hang in the park. There is a fee.

The Owl Prowl will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Emig Park, 2 Buttonwood Lane, York. Attendees may learn about owls, including the unique features that help put them at the top of the food chain, as well as look inside an owl pellet; learn owl calls; and touch their feathers, feet, and skulls. The program is free and open to people of all ages.
