The New Holland Farmers Day Association is seeking contestants for this year's first fair queen competition. Young women who wish to take part must be 16 to 20 years old and live in ELANCO School District, but contestants are not required to attend public school. Knowledge of the fair and the community will be a plus for the contestant. Contestants must enter by Monday, Sept. 12. The queen will be crowned on Monday, Sept. 26, at the New Holland Fair Building. The tug-of-war competition will return this year, and organizers hope to see teams sign up. Members of church youth group, sports teams, pastors, businesses, and more are encouraged to sign up by Wednesday, Sept. 14. Individuals with questions may call the previously listed number.

The bucket-brigade event, once associated with the fire company auxiliaries, is planned for Friday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. Members of auxiliaries, youth groups, or sports teams are welcome to sign up.
