Fairmount has planned a workshop on retirement planning and a workshop on Medicare. Both events are free of charge and will take place in the Crest View Gathering Room at 1100 Farm Crest Drive on the east side of the Fairmount campus. Bill Parson, a certified senior adviser with Everence, will conduct the events.

"Retire With Confidence" will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. Topics will include how to know when one has enough resources to retire, factors that influence when to begin collecting Social Security, ways to translate a 401(k) or similar plan into retirement income, and how to avoid common retirement mistakes. "Make Medicare an Easy Step" will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. Topics will include enrollment details and deadlines, what Medicare covers and does not cover, prescription drug coverage, plans that supplement Medicare, and transitioning from employer-based health insurance to Medicare. Guests will have an opportunity to ask questions. Reservations are required by calling the aforementioned number.
