Fall Fun Fest adds food contest and more

Asked what is new for the 17th annual Fall Fun Fest at Grace Point Church, organizer Kathy Gehman is quick with an answer. "We will have a food eating competition that will feature pie," she said. "We are also having a costume contest for families and individuals, but no scary costumes or masks, please."

The 2023 Fall Fun Fest will be held at the church, 10 S. Singer Ave., Paradise, on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Gehman reported that last year during the event, 5,000 pieces of candy were given away and 500 meals were served.

A free meal will be available for each attendee who visits the welcome table to receive a ticket. "We serve inside, but we have tables to eat outside," said Gehman. Meals will include a choice of a pork barbecue sandwich or a hot dog, along with applesauce, chips, and a cookie. Additional meals will be available for purchase.

As in the past, the emphasis at the fest will be on outdoor activities. Highlights will include inflatables, a petting zoo, live music, and carnival games. Candy is given away at each game station, and bags for candy are provided. The trick-or-treat alternative will also feature carnival games, a coffee bar, a campfire, and s'mores. Milkshakes will be available for purchase.

Gehman pointed out that the event offers fun for people of all ages. "Anybody of any age is welcome," she said. There is no admission fee to attend the event, and parking is free. For more information, readers may call 717-687-7971 or visit http://www.gracepointparadise.com.
