Farmers market vouchers available

Lancaster County Office of Aging announced kickoff dates for voucher distribution in the 2023 Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Each eligible participant will receive $50 in vouchers to be used at approved farmers markets to purchase Pennsylvania grown fruits and vegetables. Vouchers are available for use until Thursday, Nov. 30.

To be eligible, seniors must be age 60 by Sunday, Dec. 31, live in Lancaster County, and have a household income less than $26,973 for one person or less than $36,482 for two people. Seniors living in personal care or nursing homes are not eligible.

Office of Aging senior centers will have vouchers throughout the summer until they are gone. If a senior cannot go to a location on the kickoff day, vouchers will be available afterward at senior centers during normal business hours. Vouchers are available for pickup only and will not be mailed.

To pick up vouchers, seniors should go to the closest senior center and present identification, if asked. Seniors do not need an application form or proof of income.

To have a representative pick up vouchers for a senior, an application form must be completed, and the representative must present it to the senior center. Proof of income or ID is not required. Application forms are available from http://www.lancoaging.org or by calling 717-299-7979. Representatives may pick up vouchers for a maximum of four people.
