Conestoga Valley School District announced the hiring of Maribel Fernandez as the district's new human resources (HR) director. Fernandez's hire was approved at the school board meeting on Sept. 20.

Fernandez comes to the district following several years as the director of human resources at Salem Medical Center, Salem, N.J. Prior to her tenure at Salem Medical Center, Fernandez spent time as the director of human resources and communications/deputy borough manager with the Borough of West Chester and, before that, was the director of human resources with the George W. Hill Correctional Facility. She started her career in human resources with a 16-year tenure at Penn Medicine as the workers' compensation/benefits specialist.

Fernandez earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Temple University and went on to receive her master's degree in educational management from Strayer University, Washington, D.C.
