Fernback To Exhibit Photos, Watercolors

United Zion Retirement Community's Trinity Art Gallery will showcase the watercolors and photography of Lillie Fernback through Wednesday, June 29. The exhibit will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Fernback's work emphasizes color and focuses on nature, flowers, and landscapes as well as scenes from Fernback's travels, including Route 66 and Europe. Fernback studied at Millersville University as well as under the tutelage of several local artists, including Jay McVey and Dr. Sykes. Her backyard studio was designed by her husband and overlooks a garden as well as an Amish farm.

Among the works on display is "Cadillac Ranch," which features an interactive sculpture exhibit Fernback saw as she traveled Route 66. The sculpture encouraged visitors to spray paint Cadillac cars that were nose down in the ground in the middle of a field to display the tail fin evolution. Fernback was fascinated by the vibrant colors and by the actions of those interacting with the sculpture.

The exhibit also includes "Fence, Gazebo, and Tulips." This photograph captures a local scene on Lincoln Road.

All visitors will be screened and are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth.

United Zion Retirement Community is located at 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz. For more information on the Trinity Art Gallery, including exhibiting, contact marketing@uzrc.org.
