Fire company sets Community Day

Lisburn Community Fire Company, 1800 Main St., Mechanicsburg (Lisburn), will host a Community Day on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will feature a Touch-a-Truck area, including fire trucks, a police car, an ambulance, Riley's engine, construction vehicles, tow trucks and a sprint car. Vendors, including some of the fire company's community supporters, will be on-site.

Three amusement rides - a merry-go-round, Ferris wheel and fun house - will be available to children for a nominal fee each. The event will also include free bounce houses, a scavenger hunt with prizes for kids and a photo area decorated with a fall theme.

A K-9 demonstration and a search-and-rescue dog demonstration will be presented, along with a smoke house. A karate demonstration will be given for children.

At noon, there will be a ceremony including the national anthem, the presentation of colors and recognition of veterans and public safety workers.

Lunch will be available for purchase at the small pavilion. The fire company will also offer funnel cakes and a hot chocolate bar. In addition, milkshakes, popcorn, cotton candy and pickles may be purchased from vendors.
