Flute ensemble plans concert

The Lancaster County Flute Ensemble will present a "Flutes of Nature" concert on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at Leola United Methodist Church, 7 W. Main St., Leola. The concert will consist of music inspired by the seasons, time, and the beauty of nature. It will include classical music, along with tunes from movies, TV shows, and Broadway.

The Lancaster County Flute Ensemble was formed in 2016 and currently has more than 20 members from Lancaster, York, Lebanon and Berks counties. The group's three founders met at a flute camp in the Poconos. The ensemble plays all types of flutes, from piccolos to C flutes to alto, bass and contrabass flutes. It also includes a cello. The repertoire includes classical, popular, sacred, and folk selections with original arrangements by Ray-Michael Kauffman, one of the ensemble's founding members. The group welcomes players with a variety of playing experiences.
