Food safety courses posted

Penn State Extension will hold ServSafe Food Safety Manager courses in Spanish this spring in Chester and Lancaster counties. These in-person trainings, taught by certified ServSafe instructors, will help participants learn how to prevent contamination of food by properly receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, cooling, and serving the food, as well as proper methods of sanitizing food service facilities.

A class will be offered at Penn State Extension Chester County, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester, on Thursday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, March 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. The certification exam will be on March 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required by Thursday, March 9.

A class will be offered at Penn State Extension Lancaster County, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, on Tuesday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, April 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. The certification exam will be on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required by Tuesday, March 28.

The course fee covers the cost of the most recent edition of the ServSafe Manager book, exam, answer sheet, and learning materials. After completing the course and passing the multiple-choice exam with a score of 70% or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate, good for five years.
