Food Safety Courses Set

Penn State Extension, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, will hold several ServSafe Food Safety Manager courses. The courses will take place at the Lancaster Extension in the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster.

A ServSafe Food Safety Manager Course will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. The certification exam will be on Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for this daytime course is required by Friday, Jan. 13.

An evening course will be offered on Thursdays, March 30 and April 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. The certification exam will be on Thursday, April 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is required by Thursday, March 23.

These in-person trainings, taught by certified ServSafe instructors, will help participants learn how to prevent contamination of food by properly receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, cooling, and serving the food, as well as proper methods of sanitizing food service facilities. After completing the course and passing the multiple-choice exam with a score of 70% or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate, which is valid for five years.

As in-person activities resume, Penn State Extension will follow applicable state and local restrictions and Penn State COVID-19 guidelines in effect at the time of an event regarding masking, social distancing, and facility capacity limits.
