Former L-S softball players find success at U of Delaware

Julz Garber and Chloe Blantz, key members of the first Lampeter-Strasburg softball team to win a state title - a milestone achieved in 2018 - continued their winning ways by helping the University of Delaware to earn the most wins in program history and a second-place finish in the CAA conference.

Garber, a four-year starter in center field, was named the CAA Defensive Player of the year and did not commit an error all season. The senior received her second NFCA All-Region nod after being named to the All-CAA Second Team, earning her fourth postseason honor in four years, which included All-CAA Second Team in 2022 and 2023 and the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2021. Garber led the team with 61 hits, 41 runs, and 16 stolen bases. She also had one of the top batting averages on the team at .343 and led the Blue Hens with 19 multi-hit games. Season highlights included four hits against North Carolina A&T and the game-winning home run over Elon. Garber is also a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member.

Blantz, a three-year starter at shortstop, received her third CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll award. This year she started in all 52 games. She batted .277 with 44 hits, 31 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 25 RBIs. Blantz had 10 multiple-hit games and six games with multiple RBIs. Season highlights included a walk-off base hit RBI against Monmouth and three hits against Akron. She had a .945 fielding percentage in 171 total chances.
