Former refugee to speak at church

Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, will host a guest speaker after the monthly community meal on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Community members are invited to enjoy the free meal at 6 p.m. and stay for the speaker at 7 p.m. The activities will take place in the Family Life Center, and the entrance is located at the rear of the church.

The speaker will be Amer Al Fayadh, who is a part of Church World Service Lancaster's New Neighbors Speakers Bureau (NNSB). The NNSB seeks to create opportunities for local community organizations and refugees, immigrants, and asylum-seekers to join together in storytelling and dialogue.

Al Fayadh is a community-focused professional with more than a decade of experience working in a multicultural/multinational environment. He is the founder and CEO of Communication Essentials, a Lancaster-based consulting and language services company. He has more than 15 years of experience in interpretation and translation.

After resettling in the United States in 2010, Al Fayadh worked for a nonprofit where he engaged with people from more than 30 countries. He listened to their stories, learned about their challenges, and witnessed the impact community members can make when they invest in one another.
