Foundation awards scholarships

The board of the Randy Royer Memorial Foundation has awarded its 2023 scholarships to Tanner McCracken and Ayden Greenly. McCracken, an Ephrata High School graduate, and Greenly, a graduate of Cocalico High School, both plan to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, where McCracken will study HVAC-refrigeration and Greenly will major in plumbing technology.

The Randy Royer Memorial Foundation was established as a tax-exempt charitable organization in 2017 and since its inception has awarded $47,000 in scholarships to students pursuing postsecondary education in the building and construction or automotive trades at either Penn College of Technology or Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. Randy Royer was raised in Akron and graduated from Ephrata High School. He continued his education at Penn State University, earning an associate degree in architectural engineering technology and a Bachelor of Science in structural design and construction engineering technology. Royer started working for Ames Construction as a project manager and estimator immediately after college and remained there for 27 years until his sudden death in October 2016. His work was his passion, and he was proud to be a part of the Ames Construction team.
