Free throw championship posted

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in the Warwick School District are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship sponsored by Council 10827. The local competition will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lititz recCenter, 301 W. Maple St., Lititz.

All contestants at the local level will receive a certificate of participation. Additionally, winners in each age and gender category will receive a championship certificate and plaque. All participants will receive patches.

Participants need not furnish proof of age, but written parental consent is required. A contestant's age category will be determined by his or her age on Jan. 1. Competitors may register at the door, and there is no fee to enter. Contestants may only participate in one Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship at the local council level per year. Local winners may advance through district, regional, and state levels in subsequent weeks.

Council 10827 in Lititz is one of 17,000 Knights of Columbus councils that make up the Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, the organization now has approximately 2 million members, who put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally, and internationally with financial contributions and hands-on service.
