Freshmen Fuel PM Golf Upset

With four freshmen in the starting lineup, the Penn Manor (PM) golf team opened the season on Aug. 18 at Overlook with an impressive 5-0 start. Last year the team finished the season with an overall record of 4-16.

"From top to bottom, this is the most complete team I've ever had," said Comet boss Thomas Reustle. "This is my sixth year as the Penn Manor coach, and during that time, Township had never lost a Section One match. For us to go 5-0 was truly remarkable. I'm not sure the players fully comprehend what they accomplished. Now it's back to business."

Freshman Jesse Shue led the way with a 77. Freshman teammates JP Radwanski (79), Brayden Souder (84) and Seb Elias (87) followed, leaving the Comets tied with Warwick at 327. "The fifth player tiebreaker was Keegan Dings with an 89," noted Reustle. "Warwick's fifth player shot a 109."

Junior Aiden Doyle also carded an 89.

Hempfield (335), Manheim Township (342), Cedar Crest (356) and Lancaster Catholic (361) rounded out the Section One competition.
