Friendship Community Posts Golf Event

Friendship Community will hold its 22st annual Irvin C. Enck Memorial Golf Tournament on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Foxchase Golf Club, 300 Stevens Road, Stevens. The event will benefit individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. The scramble-format tournament will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Lunch will be served at approximately 1 p.m.

Participants may register individually or in groups of four. The fee includes a green fee, golf cart use, a continental breakfast, unlimited snacks and drinks on the course and a catered lunch. Additional items, including mulligans and other tricks, as well as tickets for giveaway drawing prizes, will be available for purchase in advance at http://www.friendshipcommunity.net/golf or on the day of the event.

This year will also include the fourth annual golf ball drop sponsored by Blue Ridge Communications. Tickets for numbered golf balls will be sold, with a fee per individual golf ball or a discount on a bundle of six golf balls. The numbered golf balls will be dropped from approximately 15 feet in the air onto the green of the 18th hole. The golf ball that lands and stays in the hole win will win a cash prize. If multiple balls land and stay in the hole, the cash prize will be split. If no golf ball lands and stays in the hole, the ball closest to the hole will win - or split, if there is a tie - a consolation cash prize.

Sponsorships are available. Volunteer service, in-kind donations and monetary donations are also being accepted.

This event is held in memory of Irvin C. Enck, former director of building and maintenance for Friendship Community, who passed away in August 2014. Irvin's wife, Joyce, was also involved with on Friendship Community as a member of its nursing team.

Friendship Community is a faith-based organization that has been cultivating capabilities of individuals with intellectual disability and autism in Lancaster and Lebanon counties since 1972. The organization has a thriving arts day program, home-based services, Lifesharing and 24 residential homes serving over 150 people in the two counties.
