Gap Town Clock Lions to host Christmas bazaar

Local vendors, free children's crafts and a visit by Santa Claus are some of the highlights of the annual Christmas bazaar being presented by the Gap Town Clock Lions Club at the Gap Fire Hall on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Approximately 20 crafters and artisans will be featured, selling jewelry, clothing, crocheted items, holiday-themed decorations and home decor. Home-based business vendors, including Mary Kay, Norwex, Pampered Chef and Princess House, will also offer merchandise for sale.

Skip's Food Truck will be on hand offering french fries, barbecued items, chicken sandwiches and more. "We will also have coffee and doughnuts in the morning," noted club president Steve Wenrich.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to win gift baskets, featuring items donated by local businesses. Santa Claus will be on hand and available for photos.

The club is also collecting plastic items as part of a recycling program offered through Trex, which allows communities to earn free benches. Attendees are encouraged to bring plastic items to the bazaar, such as grocery bags, newspaper sleeves, empty ice bags, bread bags, dry cleaning bags and the plastic that is used to wrap cases of bottled water.

"We (plan) to get a bench for the Salisbury Township Community Park in Gap," Wenrich said.

Proceeds from the bazaar will help support the Lions Club's community projects and local charities. "In the past we have donated to the Pequea Valley Education Foundation, the Christiana Ambulance Association, Gap Fire Company and Factory Ministries," Wenrich noted.

Information will be provided at the bazaar for those interested in joining the Lions Club.

The Gap Town Clock Lions Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. at a member's home. For the meeting location, email Wenrich at swenrich@fultonbank.com.
