GEARS Announces Upcoming Events

GEARS will offer several programs in the coming weeks. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person cost per class with a discounted rate for GEARS members. To register or for more information, visit http://www.getintogears.org or call GEARS at 717-367-0355.

A Parent and Child swim class for children ages 6 months to 3 years will be offered on Saturdays, March 26 to May 21, with the except of May 14, and again on Saturdays, June 4 to July 30, with no class on July 2. A parent or guardian must participate in the pool with each child. This class is designed to help young children feel comfortable in and around the water. The class for children ages 6 to 24 months will run from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by the class for children ages 2 and 3 from 8:40 to 9:10 a.m. Both classes will be held at the pool at Elizabethtown College, 1 Alpha Drive, Elizabethtown.

GEARS Swim Lessons provide opportunities for achievement and allow smooth transition between levels of instruction for individuals age 4 and older. Classes will take place on Saturdays, March 26 to May 21, with no May 14 class, with another session offered on Saturdays, June 4 to July 30, with no class on July 2. Classes will be 30 minutes in length and will be divided based on age with the first class beginning at 9:20 a.m. Classes will be held at the Elizabethtown College pool.

Restorative Yoga will take place on Sundays, Feb. 20, March 20, April 24, and May 15, from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Marriage Hub, 18 N. Market St., Elizabethtown. The class will teach participants age 14 and older how to let go of physical and mental tension using various yoga props to support participants in rejuvenating poses. Yoga instructor Charla Lorenzen will email the list of required and recommended props to registrants.

M&T Bank will present "Making Budgets Work" from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Participants will identify personal obstacles to budgeting; create a structure to track and analyze spending; list short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals; discuss the importance of reducing debt and building emergency savings; and apply strategies to manage day-to-day spending. The class is free and open to adults age 18 and older. Preregistration is required.
