GEARS plans activities

Bowling Camp will be offered for kids ages 8 to 12 from Monday through Thursday, July 22 to 25, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at Clearview Lanes, 1990 W. Main St., Mount Joy. Clearview Lanes staff members will instruct children in arm swing, a four-step approach, targeting, and spare making.

Two tai chi classes will be held in the basement of Masonic Village Carpenter Chapel, 1244 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown, on Tuesdays, July 9 to Sept. 24. No classes will occur on July 16 or Aug. 6. Introduction to Tai Chi will take place from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. for individuals who are new to tai chi or who have not practiced in years. This class will focus on a 10-step Taiji form that introduces the basic postures of tai chi. Advanced Tai Chi will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. for individuals familiar with the basic postures of tai chi, and it will integrate these postures with new moves.

Pickleball lessons will be offered for people age 18 and up on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 16 to 23, in the gym at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown. A beginner class will be held from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., followed by an intermediate class from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Lessons will cover basic techniques, rules, and strategies. All equipment will be provided.

The GEARS Summer Playground Program, for youths ages 6 to 14, will be held on Mondays to Fridays from June 17 to Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Elizabethtown Community Park on Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, and Fuhrman Park in Maytown. Trained leaders will offer supervised recreation activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, and nature activities.
