GEARS will offer an introduction to Medicare on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the East Donegal Municipal Building, 190 Rock Point Road, Marietta. The class is designed for people who will soon turn 65. The basics of Medicare will be explained, including how and when to sign up for Medicare, what is covered by the different parts of Medicare (A, B, C and D), and the differences between a Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) and a Medicare Advantage plan. Additionally, attendees will learn how to find a plan that best fits their needs. There is a per-person cost, with a discounted rate for GEARS members. Copies of GEARS' fall brochure will soon be mailed. A wide variety of programs and activities for people of all ages will be offered in the fall. Residents can begin to register on Thursday, Aug. 3, by visiting the aforementioned website, call the previously mentioned number, send a fax to 717-361-7235 or stop by 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Registrations may also be mailed; contact GEARS for more details. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and some programs fill quickly.
