GEARS' 28th annual golf tournament sponsored by R.E. Pierson Materials Corp. will take place on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, 650 S. Harrisburg St., Harrisburg. The tournament will have an 8 a.m. shotgun start and a four-person scramble format. The entry fee includes green fees, use of a cart, lunch, and prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit GEARS.

Medicare Madness, for anyone who is about to turn 65, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Topics will be the basics of Medicare, including how and when to sign up for Medicare; what is covered by the different parts of Medicare (A, B, C, and D); the difference between a Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) and a Medicare Advantage plan; and how to find a plan that best fits one's needs. Bingo will be played at the conclusion of the class.

A bus trip to Peddler's Village will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20, departing from Clearview Lanes, 1990 W. Main St., Mount Joy, at 8:15 a.m. The trip will include a tour of the Pearl S. Buck House, lunch at the Cock 'n Bull Restaurant, and free time in Peddler's Village.
