GEARS to offer activities

The 17th annual Daddy/Daughter Dance will take place on Friday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown. Girls may bring their father or an uncle, an older adult brother or a family friend. The event will include arts and crafts, games, a snack, dancing and a visit from Cinderella and Prince Charming. The registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 9. There is a fee per couple.

Two soccer programs will be offered on Saturdays, Feb. 3 to March 9, in the gym at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown College soccer players will lead.

An Iddy Biddy Indoor Soccer program will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 3 to 5. Children will learn basic soccer skills such as dribbling, passing and trapping. Emphasis will also be placed on social skills. Shin guards are recommended. The fee includes a T-shirt.

A Youth Indoor Soccer Program will be available from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. for boys and girls in first through third grades. This program is designed to be instructional, providing an opportunity for youths to participate in low-key games. The fee includes a team T-shirt and instruction.

Pickleball lessons will be offered for people age 16 and up in the gym at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown, on Tuesdays, March 12 and 19, and Thursday, March 14. A class for beginners will be held from noon to 1 p.m., and an intermediate class will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Lessons will cover basic techniques, rules, and strategies. All equipment will be provided.

Youths interested in field hockey may attend an Indoor Field Hockey Clinic on Saturdays, Feb. 10 to March 16, in the GEARS Community Center gym. The program will run from 8 to 9 a.m. for those in kindergarten through grade two and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. for those in grades three through five. Participants will learn the basics of field hockey through a variety of drills, fun competitions and small games. Hockey sticks and balls will be available for use. Shinguards are recommended. The fee includes a T-shirt and mouthguard.
