Gifts Made With Love

Lititz Art Association Schedules Holiday Show

Handmade gifts have a special place in the hearts of many givers and receivers during the holiday season. The Lititz Art Association (LAA) Holiday Gift Show, which features more than 20 local artists, is ready to provide a variety of handmade items suitable for gifting.

The year's Holiday Gift Show will be held once again at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, on Friday, Nov. 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. "The church has just been fantastic. They have been delightful," said Beth Kaylor Brunner, LAA member and show organizer.

According to Kaylor Brunner, the participating artists work in a variety of mediums, including watercolors, acrylics, oils, ornaments, woodcarving, and graphics. "We'll have jewelry, ceramics, mixed media, and fiber arts, and some of our members have mugs, prints, and cards."

"We will have a special guest," noted Kaylor Brunner. "The church has a group called the Golden Needles, and they asked last year if they could join us." The Golden Needles, which is made up of members who do quilting and complete sewing projects, will take part in the show for the second year. "It was wonderful to have them (last year), and they are joining us again this year, which is just delightful," she said.

Kaylor Brunner praised the convenience of the location for attendees. "What's nice is we've got plenty of parking, and it's easy access (from) the back of the church," she pointed out.

The LAA, which has more than 60 members, holds three shows yearly. The Lititz Outdoor Fine Art Show is held in Lititz Springs Park in July, and the Lititz Parkwalk is held in the same location at the end of September.

Kaylor Brunner, who taught art in Lititz for more than 20 years, paints brightly colored flowers and landscapes. She began painting as a small child. Her father was an amateur, self-taught artist who provided his daughter an end of his workbench for her paintings. Later, when he came to live with her and her family, she shared her studio with him.
