Girl Scouts help in park cleanup

Members of two local Girl Scout troops gathered to help in the spring cleanup efforts at Strasburg Community Park on March 29. Armed with gardening gloves and flexible garden buckets, five Cadettes and six Juniors from the Hans Herr Service Unit joined members of the Strasburg Community Parks Foundation and community volunteers to rake dead leaves, clear fallen branches, and clean up flower beds around the pavilion, finishing with a top layer of new mulch.

The Scouts also recently purchased two new trees to be planted in the park through its Grow a Tree program. Both troops reached their fundraising goal to purchase the trees as their Take Action project, a service-learning experience intended to create a lasting, sustainable impact on the community and the environment.

Located at 151 Precision Ave. in Strasburg, the 12-acre Strasburg Community Park offers walking trails lined with native plants and educational signs, along with a pavilion and amphitheater suitable for summer concerts, weddings, and other events.
