Girl Scouts Serve, Learn, And Lead

In a recent interview with the Advertiser, the Conestoga River Girl Scouts Service Unit 715 emphasized its appreciation for the community's continued support as the unit seeks to help its members become their best selves. The Conestoga River Girl Scouts have troops located in Penn Manor and Lancaster city.

"Without the help of our communities, we wouldn't have been able to sell as many cookies," said Anne Jensen, the new service unit lead for Conestoga River Girl Scouts. "Community is vital. It's not just about cookie sales. It's about support!" Jensen has been involved in Girl Scouts for 11 years. She said Girl Scouting offers opportunities for girls to become leaders, build confidence, engage in positive activities, make new and lasting friends, have fun, and make the world a better place.

With the support of the community, the Conestoga River Girl Scout troops have been able to go on camping trips, learn archery, participate in activities, and complete community service projects such as tree planting and collecting food for surrounding shelters.

The Conestoga River Girl Scouts will host a Girl Scout and volunteer recruitment event on Saturday, Aug. 7. The event will take place at Manor Township Community Park, 2670 Charlestown Road, Lancaster, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

"I'm looking forward to getting the word out about Girl Scouts and what we are all about," stated Jensen.
