Girl Scouts To Hold Recruitment Event

Elizabethtown/Donegal Girl Scout Service Unit will hold a recruitment event on Friday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Docs Family Fun Center, 1733 E. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown. All girls from kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to enjoy an evening of roller skating. Parents will be able to get information about joining Girl Scouts in the area.

A fee will be charged at the door, which includes skate rental. The snack bar will be open for participants to purchase refreshments.

Elizabethtown/Donegal Girl Scouts is looking for new members and adult leaders and helpers. Girls can enjoy activities such as a fall product rally; selling candy, nuts and Girl Scout Cookies; a dinner show at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre; a visit to Urban Air; a corn maze; and many other service unit programs.

Troop meetings usually include earning badges and patches and often excursions. Every other year, the service unit hosts an encampment for everyone to attend. This past year, it was called "Through the Years," and girls got to experience and enjoy many things from 1912 through the modern day. Activities included recreating a drive-in movie in cars they made out of boxes, as well as a sock hop. Each group dressed in clothes from a different decade.

Those with questions may email Tracy Adams, service unit lead, at Gsleader16@gmail.com.
