Girls' rugby initiative launched

Rugby Pennsylvania, the governing body for youth and high school rugby in the state, has launched an initiative called Emerging Girls Rugby. Designed to promote and develop girls' rugby in high schools across Pennsylvania, Emerging Girls Rugby aims to tap into girls' potential and empower girls across the state to embrace rugby's values of teamwork, discipline, comradery, and respect. The initiative will focus on fostering the growth and development of high school girls' rugby programs, providing them with the resources, guidance, and support necessary to establish successful teams. Rugby Pennsylvania will work closely with schools, community partners, and interested individuals to ensure the smooth implementation of rugby programs in high schools throughout the state.

Once there are 25 girls' rugby programs operating under the Emerging Girls Rugby initiative, Rugby Pennsylvania will apply for emerging sport status with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). With support from the PIAA, Emerging Girls Rugby can further expand its reach, making it more accessible to young athletes statewide.

High schools interested in becoming part of the Emerging Girls Rugby initiative may visit http://www.rugbypa.org/girlsrugby or email girlsrugby@rugbypa.org.
