Janine Pflaum, director of development, talked about the organization and its participation in Give Local York, a countywide day of fundraising set for May 1:

What is the mission of York County Libraries?

The mission of the York County Libraries is to strengthen the York County community and to enrich individual lives by supplying information, providing recreation, promoting literacy, encouraging lifelong learning, and serving as the hub of their communities.

Why is the organization excited to participate in Give Local York this year?

York County Libraries, composed of 13 full-service libraries, is much more than books. Our libraries continue to maintain robust digital services that can be accessed anywhere. Our doors may be closed right now, but we're still here for you during these uncertain times.

Just as Give Local York focuses on supporting the community through online portals using technology, our libraries do what they do best using technology. Libraries are agile, innovative institutions serving real-life needs in today's real-life situation. The community can continue to enjoy today's bestsellers, children's picture books, movies, music, and learning opportunities from the comfort and safety of their home through our website.

Now, more than ever, our libraries need your support to ensure these resources continue to be accessible and that the programs you love continue to run when our doors open again.
