GOAL Project To Mark Anniversary

GOAL Project will celebrate 30 years of service on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Shady Maple Banquet and Conference Center, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl. Registration will start at 5:15 p.m., and dinner will begin at 6 p.m.

GOAL Project is a 501(c)(3) charity organization whose mission is to prepare and support the community to address the challenges of addiction and recovery so that all may be free from addiction. GOAL Project provides education with special focus on the faith community and seeks to reduce the stigma around addiction. GOAL Project addresses the biological, pychological, social and spiritual aspects of addiction with the goal of reducing misunderstandings, while supporting people in recovery for sustained healing. GOAL provides professional and volunteer trainings locally and internationally to equip leaders to increase capacity within organizations so that the community has greater resources for people in recovery.

The guest speaker at the 30th anniversary event will be the Rev. Rick Bauer, rector of Saint Edward's Episcopal Church in Lancaster. He earned his doctorate from Duke Divinity School, where he published work focusing on the relationship between meditation and neuroscience in cultivating meaningful and transformative spirituality. Bauer worked closely with GOAL when he helped to launch the Addiction and Recovery Ministry at Saint James Episcopal Church in downtown Lancaster and worked to assemble a team that has continued to grow in its commitment to welcome community.

The public is invited to attend the celebration. To register by Friday, Oct. 22, at noon, visit http://www.goalproject.org and click "30th Anniversary." Sponsorships are welcome.
