Golf event to aid Friendship Community

Registration is now open for Friendship Community's 23rd annual Irvin C. Enck Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Foxchase Golf Club, 300 Stevens Road, Stevens. Check-in and practice time on the driving range will begin at 7 a.m., and the scramble-style tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Around 1 p.m., lunch will be served.

The cost per golfer or per group of four includes the green fee, use of a golf cart, a continental breakfast, unlimited snacks and drinks on the course, a catered lunch and an entry into a door prize drawing. Additional items, including mulligans and other tricks, as well as prize tickets, are available for purchase in advance or on the day of the event.

This year will also include the fifth annual Golf Ball Drop sponsored by Blue Ridge Communications. Tickets for numbered golf balls will be sold. The numbered golf balls will be dropped from approximately 15 feet in the air onto the green of the 18th hole. The supporter whose golf ball lands and stays in the hole will win a cash prize. If multiple balls land and stay in the hole, the cash prize will be split. If no golf ball lands and stays in the hole, the ball(s) closest to the hole will win and split, potentially, a consolation cash prize.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. To register for the golf tournament or for sponsorship information and Golf Ball Drop tickets, visit http://www.friendshipcommunity.net/golf.
