Grace Point Fun Fest Planned

Two years ago, Grace Point Church, 10 S. Singer Ave., Paradise, canceled its Fall Fun Fest due to COVID-19 restrictions. In 2021, church members decided to hold the event as a completely outdoor celebration, but the activity was postponed at the last minute due to rain. When the event was held, attendance was nearly 300.

This year, the church is making changes to better accommodate families and volunteers. "We are changing the day and the time," reported organizer Kathy Gehman. The 16th Fall Fun Fest will be held at the church on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 3 to 6 p.m. In 2018, church members served more than 650 meals and gave away candy to a large number of children. Previous events were held on Friday evening. "It (will) just (be) a fun family afternoon," said Gehman.

As in 2021, emphasis at the fest will be on outdoor activities. Highlights will include inflatables, a petting zoo, and live music. The fest, a trick-or-treat alternative, will also feature carnival games, a coffee bar, a campfire, and s'mores. Milkshakes will be available for purchase. The church welcomes community members of all ages to enjoy the free afternoon of fun. Friendly costumes are welcome, but attendees are asked not to wear scary masks to the event.

The meal, one of the most popular parts of the event, will be held inside, but Gehman pointed out that this year, outside tables will be available for those who prefer to eat in the outdoors. Attendees who wish to receive a free meal are asked to visit the welcome table at the event to receive a ticket. Meals will include a choice of a pork barbecue sandwich or a hot dog, along with applesauce, chips, and a cookie. Additional meals will be available for purchase.

Gehman knows that for local children the draw of the trick-or-treat alternative is the free sweet treats. "There's candy at each game station," explained Gehman, who added that bags for candy are provided. "We just hand out the candy and they leave here with a bag full," she said. There is no admission fee to attend the event, and parking is free. For more information, readers may call 717-687-7971 or visit http://www.gracepointparadise.com.
