GSV posts programs

Community members may visit the Train Room during an open house on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The HO-gauge train layout includes Thomasville and the "Talk with Thomas" event, and the O-gauge layout includes an elevated track. Both layouts feature detailed scenery. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.

Meadow View Memory Support, 800 Kraybill Ave., New Holland, will host an open house on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. From 6 to 6:30 p.m. and from 6:30 to 7 p.m., a "Benefits of Memory Support" program will be provided to educate people with a dementia diagnosis and their family members.

The speaker will be Connie Metzler, program coordinator and nurse case manager at Lancaster General Health Physicians' Alzheimer's and memory care program. Metzler has served Lancaster General Health for more than 30 years as a hospital nurse and nursing instructor at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences.

Attendees will learn how to assist and build relationships with family and community members living with dementia. Attendees will have an opportunity to tour Meadow View and enjoy light refreshments.

GSV will host a 1st Friday Pop-Up Demonstration at The Artisans Corner on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. Resident artisan Joanne Gehman will demonstrate pottery making. The Artisans Corner is located in the Village Square.
