GVWA To Present Nature Programs

Green Valleys Watershed Association (GVWA) invites the public to get outside this winter and engage with nature by joining staff members during one or more outdoor programs.

Little Wonders Nature Classes will resume for children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers on the following Tuesdays: Jan. 19, Winter Science; Jan. 26, Eyes on Owl; Feb. 2, Hibernation Happens; Feb. 9, Animal Builders; Feb. 16, Discover the Meadow; and March 2, Outdoor Art.

Children and caregivers may attend one or more of the programs, with two time frames to choose from, 10 to 11 a.m. or 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Each class will include a theme-based nature walk with age-appropriate activities, a story and a craft "to-go" for more fun at home.

Adults and children age 6 and up are invited to discover the outdoors after dark through educator-led night hikes in which participants will explore the trails in search of nocturnal animal activity, enjoy the night sky and test their own senses after dark.

Two hikes will be offered, a Full Moon Night Hike and Campfire on Friday, Jan. 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with an inclement weather date of Friday, Feb. 5, and a Nocturnal Animal Hike on Saturday, March 13, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., with an inclement weather date of Saturday, March 20.

Registration is required for all programs, which will be held at Welkinweir, GVWA's 224-acre headquarters located at 1368 Prizer Road, Pottstown, in East Nantmeal Township.

All programs are entirely outdoors, have a limited number of participants, and require face masks for all participants. For further details, including fee information and to register, readers may email dwhite@greenvalleys.org or call 610-469-8646.

Welkinweir is open to the public on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, readers may visit http://www.greenvalleys.org.
