Hardball 9 Battles McCaskey in Section Two Play

Play Ball!! After another brief COVID pause that forced some schedule shuffling, the E-town baseball team returned to the diamond on April 19th facing McCaskey. Despite a fast start, the Bears fell to the visiting Tornado by a 7-4 final. The early lead was a result of two fielder's choice plays that put Elizabethtown up 2-0 after one. Cael Brandt and Tyler Souders were the beneficiary of those plays, each picking up their lone RBI in the process. The Bears plated two additional runs in the bottom of the seventh thanks to the work of Jake and Justin Black, but it was not enough.

Josh Kreiser surrendered seven runs during five innings on the hill, taking the loss. Alex Baker covered the final two innings. They combined for six strikeouts and four walks.

One of those COVID rescheduled games had the Bears back in action one day later, hosting Manheim Township. The Streaks left Elizabethtown holding a 13-2 victory.

Tyler Souders got the start but lasted just one and a third innings before giving way to Wentling, Mitchell Garber and Baker. Souders absorbed the loss with eight Township runs coming on his watch. Baker recorded the final two outs with Wentling and Garber combining for three innings of work.

The Bears picked up both runs in the fourth with Cade Capello earning the rare hit by pitch RBI after three straight walks. Owen Zell followed with E-town's lone hit of the game, pushing across the final Elizabethtown run.

April 21 the Bears traveled to Lebanon for a match-up opposite Cedar Crest. Elizabethtown was unable to get their offense rolling leading to just three hits and a 3-0 loss.
