Have fun and build skills at summer camp

Summer camps can be some of the best opportunities for kids to develop core memories and have positive experiences," said Nicholas Mini, director of co-curricular activities for Mount Calvary Christian School. With that in mind, he invites youths in the community to sign up for one of the diverse programs offered at the school this summer. All camps will be held at the campus, 629 Holly St., Elizabethtown.

Camps will kick off the week of Monday, June 9, and will run through the week of Monday, Aug. 4. Programs will include Boys' Basketball (for students entering second through eighth grades), Girls' Basketball (for students entering second through fifth grades), Girls' Volleyball (for students entering fifth through ninth grades), Coed Soccer (for students entering grades three through eight), Middle School and High School Go! Go! Jr. Fitness Fun and Games, High School and Middle School Strength Training, Art Camp (for students entering grades four through eight), Band Camp (for students entering grades six through 12) and Choir (for students entering grades six through 12).

"Campers can plan on learning the fundamentals of each individual sport (or activity) in an uplifting setting," Mini said.

Each camp features unique programming that will appeal to a wide range of students, he shared. "Our band and choir camps will be learning pieces of music to perform by the end of the week," he explained. "For our art camps, there will be a variety of projects for students encompassing the following art techniques: fused glass, mosaic glass, wood art, weaving and acrylic painting. Go Jr., Fitness, Fun and Games and Strength Training will provide age-appropriate motor fitness and strength-building instruction."

Mount Calvary Christian School has held summer camp programs for many years. Camps are open to anyone in the community, not just students who attend the school.

"We would love to see even more of the public get involved with our summer opportunities at Mount Calvary," Mini shared.

He noted that campers can expect to learn something new in a safe, fun environment.

"Our summer camps are run by our head coaches and instructors at Mount Calvary, so you will receive top-notch training and personal care," he said.

The registration deadline for June camps is Monday, June 2. For more information on the summer camp programs, visit http://www.mcchristianschool.com/student-life/events.
