Heart Screening Available To WHS Students

Aidan's Heart Foundation will present a free heart screening event for Warwick High School students on Friday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the small gym at the high school.

The screening is available to all Warwick students in ninth through 12th grades who have no known heart conditions and are not under the care of a cardiologist.

Aidan's Heart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to prevent death from sudden cardiac arrest through screening young hearts, facilitating the placement of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in local communities, and teaching CPR and AED skills to adults and youths.

Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart's electrical system malfunctions, and it usually happens without any warning signs or symptoms. However, an EKG exam can detect a number of the conditions that cause sudden cardiac arrest.

Registration is currently open. To register, students can scan the QR code that is on the flyers placed around the school, or they can visit the athletics department in the high school.
