Hempfield Band Boosters to host band festival

The Hempfield Band Boosters will host its 30th annual marching band festival, titled "Knight of the Bands," on Saturday, Sept. 23, in Georgelis Law Firm Stadium at Hempfield High School. Part of the Cavalcade of Bands competition circuit, the event will feature marching bands from eight different school districts.

Competition is expected to begin at 6:30 p.m., wrapping up with the Hempfield Marching Knights, under the direction of Matthew Ceresini, around 8 p.m. Awards are expected to be presented at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the gate. There will be separate prices for adults and for students and seniors. The Hempfield Band Booster Club will also have food concessions available, including macaroni and cheese, hot dogs and popcorn. Souvenir event programs will also be available for purchase.

All proceeds from Knight of the Bands will benefit the Hempfield Band Booster Club, which supports the Hempfield Marching Knights, Hempfield Indoor Percussion Ensemble (HIPE), Hempfield indoor color guard, JazzONE and several curricular music ensembles.
