Playhouse To Host Big Band Concert

The Unforgettable Big Band will perform at the Hershey Area Playhouse, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m.

The Unforgettable Big Band will bring back the jokes and the music of comic Bob Hope's longtime house band, Les Brown and His Band of Renown, as well as Brown's protege Doris Day, whose 100th birthday is being commemorated this year. The music will celebrate the Greatest Generation and Hope's decades of USO shows around the world.

Ticket holders interested in dance instruction are welcome to arrive early for dance lessons at 6:30 p.m. with Doug Miller.

The Unforgettable Big Band is a 21-member big band based in York and dedicated to preserving the traditions of big band and swing music. The band covers almost 5,000 timeless songs of the swing era, including music by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

Current CDC and local guidelines will be followed by all visitors. Musicians will not be masked for the performance. Separate ticket prices have been set for adults and for children, and they can be purchased at http://www.hersheyareaplayhouse.com.
