High Note - Evening Of Music Planned In Oehme Gardens

Asked about what it is like to be able to plan the Evening of Music in the Mary Oehme Gardens now that COVID-19 restrictions have loosened, Cory Van Brookhoven, president of the Lititz Historical Foundation, replied with emphasis, "It's a wonderful feeling!"

The 2021 musical presentation, an annual event that has been held for decades, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 15, in the gardens located behind the Lititz Historical Foundation Museum, 137-145 E. Main St., Lititz. The free concert, which will feature Lancaster's own Party of Five, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Party of Five, known for its R&B dance sounds, first began playing together in the late 1990s. The band's covers of tunes from 1950s through the 1990s are designed to make attendees want to get up and dance. While the band members see themselves as classic rockers, their selection includes doo-wop and Motown songs, along with Southern rock music.

This 90-minute concert is open to the public and attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Families, friends, and neighbors are invited to the event, which is a summer tradition held when the annuals and herbs are in full bloom. This year's concert is sponsored by Luther Acres.

Although the concert is free, donations to further maintain the gardens will be welcomed and appreciated. Information about the historical foundation may be found at https://lititzhistoricalfoundation.com, by searching for "Lititz Historical Foundation" on Facebook, or by calling 717-627-4636.
