Hikes planned at park

Governor Dick Environmental Center, 3283 Pinch Road, Mount Gretna, will offer upcoming events. Activities are free and open to the public, but preregistration is required by contacting 717-964-3808 or governordick@hotmail.com and providing a name and phone number in case the program is canceled.

A pawpaw hike has been slated for Saturday, Sept. 23, at noon. Participants will hike up to the tower to learn about one of the park's most famous aspects and collect some sweet pawpaw fruits.

The Golden Eagle Hikers will offer a shorter, slower-paced hike for people over 50 on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. Participants should wear proper footwear and bring water.
