Hiking club plans outings

A hike of about 6 miles will occur on Sunday, March 12. On the out-and-back route, participants will hike up Peter's Mountain along the York Hiking Club section of the trail to the Clark Ferry Shelter, where they will eat lunch. Participants may gather at the Emigsville Park and Ride at 10 a.m., or they may meet at the Appalachian Trail parking lot in time to start hiking around 10:45 a.m. Attendees should bring hiking boots, water, snacks, and a lunch. The next event will be held on Sunday, March 19, at 1 p.m. On an out-and-back hike with an added loop, totaling 4 miles, participants will go to Nixon Park and Lake Williams and see some of the new dam construction. Attendees should meet at Nixon Park's lower parking lot and bring hiking boots, water, and a snack. The hike leaders, Sarah and Lou Tateosian, may be contacted at 717-741-2652.

A 3- to 5-mile hike will be offered at Susquehanna Riverlands State Park on Saturday, March 25. The out-and-back hike will include a section of the Mason-Dixon Trail, Schull's Rock Overlook, and the Codorus Creek. Some areas may be muddy. Participants should bring hiking boots, water, and snacks. They should meet at the Boscov's East parking lot near Red Robin at the Galleria Mall at 1 p.m. Hike leaders Greg and Denna may be contacted at 717-880-0042.
