Hiking Club Posts Activities

On Sunday, Jan. 17, the club will offer a 6-mile loop hike starting on the Turkey Hill Trail to Chestnut Grove Natural Area and returning along the Susquehanna River on the Enola Low Grade Trail. The hike includes stream crossing and a steep hill. On Sunday, Jan. 24, hikers will travel north to Little Buffalo State Park, where they will do a 6- to 7-mile loop hike. There is no shuttle. The meeting location is the park office at Little Buffalo State Park, 1579 State Park Road, Newport. The group will depart at 9:15 a.m. Participants should bring a lunch. An exploratory loop hike will take place in Bald Eagle State Forest on Sunday, Jan. 31. Participants will hike eight different trails, such as the Meixell Trail and the Crabapple Trail, for a total of 12 to 13 miles. Terrain will vary, and some trails may be less maintained than hikers are used to. Hikers will meet at Ingram's Market and the Valero at 3071 East Valley Road, Loganton, for a 9 a.m. departure.
