Hiking club posts schedule

The York Hiking Club will host several events. In the case of inclement weather, cancellation information will be available by contacting the hike leader or checking the club's Facebook page. For more information about the club, visit http://www.yorkhikingclub.com.

A 6- to 8-mile hike will be offered on Sunday, Aug. 6. Participants will hike to Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area and back and then drive to Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area for a few more miles. Attendees should bring water, snacks, a lunch and bug spray, and they should wear sturdy hiking shoes. The hike may be canceled in the case of extremely hot weather. The group will meet at the Emigsville Park and Ride at 7 a.m. There will be a carpool fee. To learn more, contact hike leader Janine Zell by calling 717-684-7891 or calling or texting 717-992-2476.

Attendees may meet at Brillhart Station at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, for a leisurely ramble on the Heritage Rail Trail to the Howard Tunnel and back. A 5-mile hike at Pinchot Park is planned for Sunday, Aug. 27, with options available to shorten or lengthen the hike. Attendees should bring water and a snack and meet at the Conewago Day Use area parking at 9 a.m. Other meetup locations may be available; more information is available from hike leaders Tom and Phyllis Morley, who can be reached at 717-332-2609 or pamorley@comcast.net.
