Historical Society Posts Events

The Manheim Historical Society has posted several upcoming events.

Tours will be offered at the Fasig and Keath Colonial houses, 30-32 E. High St., Manheim, as part of 1st Thursdays Manheim on Aug. 7. Tours will be available beginning at 5 p.m., with the last house tour at 7:45 p.m.

Guided walking tours of Manheim will take place at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 7. Participants may choose from two tours each hour, one lasting 45 minutes and the other lasting 30 minutes. There is no cost. Those who wish to attend should meet at the Fasig House 10 minutes prior to the tour. Tours will be held weather permitting.

The historical society will hold a presentation and house tours on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. The presentation, which will take place at 3 p.m. in the Fasig House, will be "A Civil War Ladies Society" presented by Patriot Daughters of Lancaster. The tours and lecture are free, but registration is recommended by calling 717-665-7989. Walk-ins will be accommodated as space permits.

The Manheim Historical Society will hold its annual ice cream social fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Manheim Railroad Station, 210 S. Charlotte St., Manheim. Offered will be vanilla and chocolate ice cream by Kreider Farms. Toppings will be available.

The event will feature celebrity dippers, including members of the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society from Manheim Central High School. Music will be provided by the Stone Soup String Band. Tours of the building and model train exhibit will be offered, as well as trolley rides, weather permitting.
